“Have you registered for the My Health Record program?”

My Health Record – what is it? Through the My Health Record system GPs across the country can access information about your medical history, including discharge summaries, shared health summaries, event summaries, MBS and PBS history, specialist letters, medication prescriptions and dispense records. It’s a fast and acurate way to share important information about your medical conditions, medicines, allergies/advers reactions and immunisations. The benefits of having a My Health Record enables patients who may have to see a GP after hours, or may be holidaying or visiting from another area and if required their full record is available without having to remember your entire medical history.

You do not have to put all your medical information in this record. You will automatically have an empty record generated by the Australian Government by October 2018 unless you contact the Government to opt out. Contact can be made online www.myhealthrecord.gov.au/for-you-your-family/opt-out-my-health-record or by telephone on 1800 723 471.  If you would like further information about this program please go to www.digitalhealth.gov.au.
