Dr Jeanine Richardson

MBBS FRACGP

Dr Jeanine Richardson is the owner and principal General Practitioner at Cavenagh Medical Centre. After graduating from the University of Tasmania Jeanine spent 13 years practicing in rural Tasmania before making the move north to Darwin in 2002. Since her arrival in the Northern Territory, Jeanine has passionately sought to improve primary care in the Darwin community by creating effective patient doctor communication and empowering patients to have their best health.

Jeanine has a wealth of experience in all areas of General Practice and has a keen passion for allergies and asthma. Jeanine obtained a Graduate Certificate in Allergic Diseases in 2018 and holds allergy clinics. Jeanine also has supplementary training in occupational medicine and skin cancer detection and surgery.

Outside of work Jeanine enjoys sunset chasing, walks on the beach with her husband and dog and listening to music, learning new things every day, and riding motorbikes.

Dr Michael Tong

BMed FRACGP DTM&H

Before moving to Darwin Dr Michael Tong trained and worked in Newcastle and the Hunter-New England region of New South Wales. Michael moved to Darwin in 2014 with his wife and has been working at Cavenagh Medical Centre since 2015.

Michael is skilled in all areas of General Practice and has a passion for Travel Medicine. In 2017 Michael travelled to the UK to undertake a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Michael is a member of the International Society of Travel Medicine and completed the Society’s Certificate in Travel Medicine in 2017.

Outside work Michael enjoys rugby, being involved in his church and playing with his young son.

Dr Shivon Jain

MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Shivon Jain graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in Queensland. After graduating she undertook her internship and residency at the Gold Coast Hospital and Royal Brisbane Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Shivon completed rotations in surgery, emergency medicine, paediatrics, anaesthetics, psychiatry, gastroenterology, cardiology and endocrinology. 

She chose to return to Darwin where she grew up to commence her general practice training and subsequently obtained her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Apart from working as a GP, Shivon has an interest in teaching and also works part time as a Medical Educator with Northern Territory General Practice Education. Her work involves training doctors specialising to become GP’s.

Outside of medicine, Shivon loves to travel, go to the beach and spend time with friends and family.

Dr Megan Wrate

FRACGP DCH MBBS B.App Sc (Phty)

Dr Megan Wrate graduated with MBBS (Honours) in 2010 from the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle. She completed her early medical training at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, before relocating to the Northern Territory in 2013. Megan completed her GP training placements throughout Darwin and Remote NT, and attained her fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2017. She also holds a diploma of Child Health from Sydney University and is currently undertaking a certificate of Women’s health. Prior to her career in medicine, Megan was a Physiotherapist and worked in the United Kingdom and United Arab Emirates.

Dr Megan enjoys the variety, complexity and intergenerational nature of General Practice, and places emphasis on preventive health and health advocacy for her patients. She is is skilled in all aspects of General practice including minor skin procedures, Women’s health and paediatrics.

Outside of medicine, Megan is a mum of 3 small energetic children. She enjoys spending time with her family, socialising with friends, all things outdoors, swimming, walking her dog, reading and cooking.

Dr. Sam Benn

Dr. Sam Benn is a skilled and compassionate GP commited to delivering high quality and practical care.

Dr. Benn grew up in rural NSW and moved to the Territory in 2009. He worked in the plumbing industry before retraining in medicine through Flinders Medical School in the Northern Territory Medical Program.

He enjoys the variety of general practice, caring for people across all stages and walks of life. Dr Benn is passionate about communication and shared decision making being the basis of good general practice. He is skilled in the broad scope of general practice including skin cancer medicine and excisions, paediatrics and men’s health.

Outside of work Sam is a busy dad to two daughters and enjoys the outdoors, camping and tennis.

With a professional yet approachable manner, Dr. Benn strives to provide thoughtful, personalized care to support his patients to take control of their health.

Dr Bec Moorhead

MD BSci DRANZCOG Cert. Child Health

Dr. Moorhead completed a Bachelor of Science in 2013 and a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne in 2017. She then completed 6 years training in hospital in various specialties including general medicine, general surgery, women’s health and emergency medicine in both central Melbourne and rural Victoria. She has gained multiple skills she can bring to the complexity of general practice.

In addition to her medical qualification, Dr Moorhead has completed:

  • Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (DRANZCOG) – Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  •  Certificate of Child Health – Sydney Westmead Children’s Hospital
  • Master of Forensic Medicine – Monash University/ Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine

Dr Chris Mellios

Dr Chris is a proud Darwin local who completed his Doctor of Medicine with Flinders University. Dr Chris gained extensive experience through rotations in surgery, emergency medicine, cardiology, psychiatry, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology. This diverse training provided a strong foundation for a career in general practice.

Dr Chris’ professional journey includes working in remote communities such as the Tiwi Islands. These experiences have been instrumental in shaping a patient-centered approach that prioritises accessibility, cultural sensitivity, and respect.

Dedicated to delivering high-quality general practice services, Dr Chris focuses on fostering trusted, long-term relationships with patients. By offering clear, empathetic communication and emphasising shared decision-making, Dr Chris empowers individuals to take an active role in managing their health and well-being.

Outside of work, Dr Chris enjoys spending time with family and friends and embracing the outdoor lifestyle that Darwin has to offer. Favourite activities include camping, fishing, and mountain biking.

Dr Siddique Shahab

FRACGP

Dr Siddique train at University of Notre Dame Fremantle WA FRACGP in Sunshine coast Queensland and has just moved to the Northern Territory. The lack of resources in remote Australia and the passion of the staff who provide care in regional areas of Australia is motivation for them to continue to be part of these services. Their passions are skin cancer, emergency presentations, and antenatal care
 
Dr Siddique loves playing cricket, travelling and camping.
